Biography
I am the shorter and less hairy one of the successful 2 Steves’ writing partnership!
I have been writing books together with Steve Barlow (the taller and hairier one) for over twenty five years and have produced over 230 titles. I have also acted as a series editor for several publishing houses and written for radio and TV.I was selected as one of the top 100 most influential and creative people working in the UK in 2016 in the Hospital Club top hundred awards in the publishing and writing section for my work on the groundbreaking NSS G Story App.
I travel the world visiting schools and libraries delivering talks, workshops and CDP/INSET sessions across the age ranges. I spend over 100 days a year working with schools, libraries, universities, colleges, The British Council, The Reading Agency – in fact anyone who wants to use me to help inspire a love of reading and writing.
I was born in Birstall, near Leicester in England. After managing to pass some exams at school, I went on to Nottingham University to read English, but spent most of my time playing sport and doing a variety of summer jobs including counting pastry pie lids (yes, really).
I trained as a teacher of Drama, English and Film and taught in several schools and colleges before teaming up with Steve Barlow to become a full time author. I live in Leicester and I’m a great rugby fan.
